Ludwig 33 Noir / Open Case Back

Reference 227 is the sapphire-back version of the NOMOS Ludwig 33 Noir, with a black galvanized dial, gold-coloured hands, and the hand-wound DUW 4001 calibre. It follows the compact 32.8mm Ludwig format, using Roman numerals, a railroad minute track, and a small seconds display within a slim stainless steel case. The case measures 32.8mm in diameter, 6.5mm in height, and 42.2mm from lug to lug. It has a sapphire crystal front and a sapphire crystal case back. The current specifications list water resistance at 5 atm, an increase from the original 3 atm rating. The black dial uses Roman numerals, a traditional railroad minute track, and a recessed small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock. The gold-coloured hands provide contrast against the dark dial surface and define the dial-side execution of this reference. The display consists of central hours and minutes with subsidiary seconds. Power currently comes from the NOMOS DUW 4001, a manually wound in-house calibre measuring 10 ½ lignes in diameter and 2.6mm in height. It has 17 jewels and a power reserve of up to 53 hours. Earlier examples of this reference were fitted with the Alpha calibre. The watch is supplied on an anthracite vegan velour remborde strap with a 17mm lug width.
