Ludwig

The NOMOS Ludwig 201 is the 35mm stainless steel version of the Ludwig with a closed case back, white silver-plated dial, tempered blue hands, and manual winding. As one of the core Ludwig references, it has gone through several iterations of NOMOS’ hand-wound movement over time, including earlier 1T and Alpha calibres. The current version is fitted with the DUW 4001. The case measures 35mm in diameter, 6.3mm in height, and 45mm from lug to lug. It has a sapphire crystal front, a closed stainless steel back, a slender bezel, and slightly curved lugs. Current specifications list water resistance at 5 atm, an increase from the earlier 3 atm rating. The galvanized white silver-plated dial uses the Ludwig’s classical layout, with Roman numerals, a railroad minute track, and a recessed small seconds display at 6 o’clock. The use of IIII instead of IV follows traditional watch dial design. The tempered blue steel hands provide contrast against the pale dial surface, while the display consists of central hours and minutes with subsidiary seconds. Power currently comes from the NOMOS DUW 4001, a manually wound in-house calibre measuring 10 ½ lignes in diameter and 2.6mm in height. It has 17 jewels and a power reserve of up to 53 hours. The movement change from earlier 1T and Alpha versions is one of the main technical evolutions of this long-running reference. The watch is supplied on a black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap with an 18mm lug width.
