The NOMOS Ludwig Neomatik für Ärzte ohne Grenzen 282.S2 is a 36.4mm stainless steel Ludwig made as a 250-piece limited edition for Doctors Without Borders. It combines the automatic DUW 3001 calibre with a special enamel white dial execution, black detailing, and the red twelve associated with NOMOS’ benefit editions for the organisation. The case measures 36.4mm in diameter, 7mm in height, and 46mm from lug to lug. It is made from stainless steel and fitted with a sapphire crystal front and sapphire crystal case back. The slender bezel, discreet lugs, and clean case profile follow the Ludwig design, while the automatic movement keeps the case relatively thin. Water resistance is rated to 5 atm. The dial is listed by NOMOS as enamel white, referring here to a glossy white dial finish rather than fired enamel. It uses Roman numerals, a fine railroad minute track, oxidized black hands, and a small seconds display at 6 o’clock. The red twelve is the main visual distinction of this limited edition, while the inscription at 6 o’clock refers to Doctors Without Borders. Power comes from the NOMOS DUW 3001, an automatic in-house calibre measuring 12 ¾ lignes in diameter and 3.2mm in height. It has 27 jewels, a power reserve of up to 43 hours, and uses the NOMOS swing system. The movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case back. The watch is supplied on a black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan remborde strap with an 18mm lug width. The case back carries the limited edition engraving “Sondermodell Ludwig für Ärzte ohne Grenzen 1/250”.
