Ludwig Automatik
Ref. 251
The NOMOS Ludwig Automatic 251 brings automatic winding to the classical Ludwig format in a 40mm stainless steel case. It retains the collection’s Roman numerals, white silver-plated dial, tempered blue hands, and small seconds display, while using a larger case than the hand-wound Ludwig references. The case measures 40mm in diameter, 8.4mm in height, and 50.1mm from lug to lug. It has a sapphire crystal front and a sapphire crystal case back. The case follows the Ludwig design with a narrow bezel, rounded profile, and slightly curved lugs. Water resistance is rated to 3 atm. The galvanized white silver-plated dial uses Roman numerals with IIII instead of IV, a fine minute track, and a recessed small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock. The tempered blue steel hands contrast with the pale dial surface, and the display consists of central hours and minutes with subsidiary seconds. Power currently comes from the NOMOS DUW 5001, an automatic in-house calibre measuring 13 ¾ lignes in diameter and 4.3mm in height. It has 26 jewels, a power reserve of up to 43 hours, and uses the NOMOS swing system. Earlier examples of this reference were fitted with the Epsilon movement, the first NOMOS automatic calibre introduced in 2005. The watch is supplied on a black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap with a 20mm lug width.
