The NOMOS Ludwig Neomatik 39 für Ärzte ohne Grenzen 250.S2 is the 38.5mm version of the Ludwig limited edition made for Doctors Without Borders. Limited to 250 pieces, it combines the automatic DUW 3001 calibre with a glossy enamel white dial, black detailing, and a red Roman twelve, used here for the first time in Roman numeral form within the NOMOS Doctors Without Borders editions. The stainless steel case measures 38.5mm in diameter, 7mm in height, and 48.5mm from lug to lug. It has a sapphire crystal front with an anti-reflective coating on the inner side, plus a sapphire crystal case back. The case keeps the Ludwig’s slender bezel and discreet lug profile, while the 38.5mm diameter gives this reference a larger format than the 36.4mm Ludwig Neomatik für Ärzte ohne Grenzen. Water resistance is rated to 5 atm. The dial is listed by NOMOS as enamel white, referring to a glossy white dial finish rather than fired enamel. It uses black Roman numerals, a fine railroad minute track, oxidized black hands, and a small seconds display at 6 o’clock. The red twelve is the defining visual detail of the limited edition, while the inscription at 6 o’clock refers to Doctors Without Borders. Power comes from the NOMOS DUW 3001, an automatic in-house calibre measuring 12 ¾ lignes in diameter and 3.2mm in height. It has 27 jewels, a power reserve of up to 43 hours, and uses the NOMOS swing system. The movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case back. The watch is supplied on a black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan remborde strap with a 19mm lug width. The case back carries the limited edition engraving “Sondermodell Ludwig für Ärzte ohne Grenzen 1/250”.
