Tangente 38 Midnight Blue / Open Case Back

The NOMOS Tangente 38 midnight blue 167 is the sapphire-back version of the larger hand-wound Tangente with a midnight blue dial and rhodium-plated hands, translating the model’s familiar design into a darker, more restrained colourway. Its stainless steel case measures 37.5mm in diameter, 6.7mm in height, and 47.7mm lug to lug. The watch is fitted with sapphire crystal front and back. Water resistance is rated to 5 atm, whereas earlier versions were rated to 3 atm. The dial follows the established Tangente layout, with Arabic numerals, minute markers, and a recessed small-seconds register. The midnight blue surface is paired with rhodium-plated hands and includes a small inscription at 6 o’clock. Inside is the NOMOS DUW 4001, a hand-wound in-house movement measuring 23.3mm in diameter and 2.6mm in height, with 17 jewels and a power reserve of up to 53 hours. Earlier versions used Alpha, reflecting the gradual evolution of NOMOS’ long-running hand-wound movement architecture. This reference is fitted on an anthracite vegan velour remborde strap with a 19mm lug width.
