Tangente
Ref. 139
The NOMOS Tangente 139 is the sapphire-back version of the core hand-wound Tangente, combining the collection’s 35mm stainless steel case with the graphic dial layout that has defined the model since the early years of the brand. Within the wider Tangente line, it represents the standard manually wound execution with a visible movement, while retaining the straight lugs, narrow bezel, Arabic numerals, and recessed small-seconds display of the classic design. Its stainless steel case measures 35.0mm in diameter, 6.2mm in height, and 45.0mm lug to lug. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on both front and back and is water-resistant to 5 atm. The angular lugs and flat, slender profile remain central to the Tangente design. The dial is galvanized and white silver-plated. Arabic numerals, minute markers, and the recessed small-seconds register create the familiar Tangente layout, while tempered blue steel hands complete the display. The blue colour of the hands is produced by heat treatment in the traditional manner. Inside is the NOMOS DUW 4001, a hand-wound in-house movement measuring 23.3mm in diameter and 2.6mm in height, with 17 jewels and a power reserve of up to 53 hours. DUW 4001 is the current designation for NOMOS’ long-established hand-wound movement architecture. Earlier Tangente references used Alpha or closely related versions of the same movement family, itself historically derived from the Peseux 7001 base before being progressively reworked and industrialized by NOMOS into its current in-house form. In its present DUW 4001 iteration, it remains the brand’s core manually wound calibre. This reference is fitted on a black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap with an 18mm lug width.
