The Rolex Day-Date 36 128235-0039 debuted in 2019 as an Everose gold configuration within the Day-Date collection, a model line introduced in 1956 as the first wristwatch to display both the day of the week spelled out in full and the date via instantaneous apertures. This reference combines the traditional 36 mm case size with a gem-set dial and fluted bezel, rendered in Rolex’s proprietary pink gold alloy. The watch is housed in a 36 mm Oyster case crafted from 18 ct Everose gold, featuring a monobloc middle case with a screw-down case back and screw-down winding crown. The fluted bezel, originally developed as a functional element to assist in securing the case and ensuring water resistance, is executed here in Everose gold. A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with a Cyclops lens positioned over the date protects the dial. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres. The dial is diamond-paved and set with ten baguette-cut sapphires in rainbow colours serving as hour markers. The gemstones are individually selected and positioned with precise tolerances to ensure consistent alignment and uniform light reflection across the dial surface. The display is completed by centrally mounted hour, minute, and seconds hands, alongside day and date apertures positioned at 12 o’clock and 3 o’clock respectively. Powering the watch is the Rolex Calibre 3255, a self-winding mechanical movement developed and manufactured in-house. The movement operates with a bidirectional Perpetual rotor and delivers an approximate power reserve of 70 hours. It incorporates a blue Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers, and features a stop-seconds mechanism for precise time setting. The calibre is regulated to Rolex’s Superlative Chronometer standard after casing. The watch is fitted with a President bracelet in 18 ct Everose gold, constructed from semi-circular three-piece links and secured by a concealed folding Crownclasp. As with all Day-Date models, the bracelet is integrated into the overall case design and produced exclusively in precious metal.
