The Patek Philippe Minute Repeater 5278 Allegory of Music 5278/50R-010 has a 40 mm white gold case, and measures 10.74 mm thick.

The Patek Philippe Rare Handcrafts 5278/50R-010 5278/50R-010 debuted in 2026 as a unique piece built around the minute repeater reference 5278 and distinguished by a dial in miniature painting on enamel. Executed in rose gold, it reproduces The Allegory of Music, an oil-on-canvas work from 1764 by François Boucher, translating an eighteenth-century Rococo composition into a wristwatch dial through enamel work. Its case is crafted in rose gold and measures 42 mm in diameter with a thickness of 10.74 mm. The watch is humidity- and dust-protected only and is delivered with interchangeable solid and sapphire crystal case backs. The external architecture remains restrained, placing the visual emphasis on the dial and on the acoustic complication housed within. The dial is executed using the technique of miniature painting on enamel. To recreate Boucher’s composition, the enameller worked with 19 base colours, including 7 blended shades, building the image in successive touches to reproduce flesh tones, drapery folds, and hair texture. The decoration was then covered with several layers of transparent flux enamel according to the Geneva method. In total, the dial required 17 firings at temperatures ranging from 800°C to 830°C. Time is indicated by rose gold dauphine hands. Inside is the self-winding calibre R 27, a minute repeater movement with two classic gongs. The movement measures 28 mm in diameter and 5.05 mm in thickness, consists of 327 parts, uses 39 jewels, and operates at 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour. It is wound by an off-centre guilloched 22K gold mini-rotor and offers a power reserve ranging from 43 to 48 hours. The regulating organ comprises a Gyromax balance and Spiromax balance spring, and the movement bears the Patek Philippe Seal. The watch is fitted with a hand-stitched matte chocolate brown alligator leather strap with square scales.
