Panerai caliber P.9003

Ref. P.9003

In 2014 Officine Panerai launches its new P.9003 movement, completely developed and made in the Officine Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. Its characteristic feature is the GMT 24H function, with second time zone indication on the edge of the dial, fitted with an automatic in-house movement. The GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) system, divides the terrestrial globe into 24 time zones, each equivalent to 15° of longitude. The Greenwich meridian, meridian 0°, was historically used as the fundamental reference for the definition of local time zones since the International Conference of Rome in 1883 and it has always been extremely important for seamen: the time at Greenwich is the reference for the calculations which enable to determine the longitude at sea, thus establishing the precise position of the vessel.
