Luminor Marina Militare

Ref. PAM05218

The Panerai Luminor Marina Militare PAM05218 revisits the PAM 5218-202/A, one of the three Panerai references introduced in 1993 and the only one created exclusively for the Marina Militare. This version uses a 44mm steel case with DLC coating, echoing the black PVD finish of the original, and pairs it with a matte black dial featuring the non-matching luminous effect associated with early examples of the 5218-202/A. The watch is powered by the hand-wound P.6000 NS and has a 30 bar water-resistance rating. The 44mm case follows the Bettarini-style Luminor format, with a cushion-shaped profile, crown-protecting bridge, and black DLC coating over steel. This case size reflects the shift introduced by the 1993 models, which moved Panerai’s civilian-era Luminor design away from the larger 47mm proportions of earlier military references. Water resistance is rated at 30 bar, approximately 300 meters. The matte black dial carries the “Marina Militare” inscription and reproduces the non-matching luminous appearance found on some early 5218-202/A examples. That effect originally resulted from a reaction between tritium and varnish, producing orange-brown numerals and greener hands on certain watches. The layout remains simple, with luminous Arabic numerals, hour markers, and a small seconds display at 9 o’clock. Inside is the Panerai P.6000 NS, a hand-wound movement with hours, minutes, small seconds, and a three-day power reserve from a single barrel. The watch is fitted to a straight vintage-style golden brown calf leather strap with a black DLC-coated trapezoidal buckle, sewn in by construction like the 1993 model. A second black rubber strap with an additional buckle is also supplied.
