Universal Genève Tribute to Compax White Gold / White
Ref. JU281121A1X1
The Universal Genève Tribute to Compax JU281121A1X1 debuted in 2025 as part of a six-piece collection paying homage to the Compax chronograph famously worn by Nina Rindt during the 1960s. The watch features a 36 mm case crafted from 18 k white gold, measuring 12.67 mm in thickness and 44.44 mm from lug to lug. The fixed aluminum bezel incorporates a tachymeter scale, while the cambered sapphire crystal—treated with double-sided anti-reflective coating—covers a grand feu enamel dial executed in opaque white with contrasting black enamel chronograph counters. The display follows the traditional tri-compax layout, with small seconds at 9, a 30-minute counter at 3, and a 12-hour counter at 6. The black varnished hour and minute hands, white varnished counter hands, and red varnished central chronograph seconds hand are all treated with Super-LumiNova for improved legibility. Powering the Tribute to Compax is the manual-winding Universal Genève Caliber 281, a restored column-wheel chronograph from the brand’s archives. It measures 28.5 mm × 7.10 mm, operates at 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz), and provides approximately 36 hours of power reserve. The movement drives indications for hours, minutes, small seconds, central chronograph seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour counters. Water-resistant to 50 meters, the watch is mounted on a brown calfskin bund strap handcrafted by Satoru Hosoi, composed of three permanently joined leather sections. It is secured by an 18 k white-gold pin buckle signed Universal Genève / HOSOÏ-PARIS.
