The Omega Speedmaster X-33 was introduced in 1998 as a modern-day Moonwatch - now 'Mars Watch'. As such it featured a high-tech titanium case and an analog/digital movement with a specific set of functions. A second generation was introduced in 2001, having received a number of minor updates. Reference 3291.50.00 is a special order item believed to be exclusively available to US Air Force pilots.
