Portugieser 325 Silver / Art Deco / Feuille

The original reference 325 'Portugieser' was introduced in 1939, often said to be initiated by two Portuguese businesmen who asked for an oversized wristwatch with chronometer precision. The case, model 228, measured 41.5mm across and over the years housed several movements; -caliber 74 (1939-1951; 304 pieces produced -caliber 98 (1944-1970); 329 pieces produced -caliber 982 (1977-1981, so-called 'German Edition'); 57 pieces produced. *numbers courtesy of IWC. Although the combination silver dial-Arabic numerals-feuille hands is the most iconic, a myriad of dial and hand designs were used.
