Breitling · Breitling Navitimer
Cosmonaute
Ref. D2232212/B657
This ultra-special version of the Navitimer was made to equip the very first space exploration missions. It made its first flight on May 24th 1962, strapped on the wrist of astronaut Scott Carpenter during the orbital flight of the Aurora 7 capsule. The special feature of this model lies in the fact that all 24 hours in a day can be read off around a single circular sweep of the dial, thereby enabling one to differentiate between day and night, since this notion no longer exists in space. The Cosmonaute also offers a Flyback mechanism, an additional function allowing successive timing operations with no need to stop, return to zero and then restart the chronograph. REF. D2232212/B657
